Dave Johnson Restorations Cellulose Nitrate Trapezoid Inlays
Just in from my friend Dave Johnson and offered at an introductory price of $150.00 plus shipping. Real cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays. This celluloid has the same distinctive pattern as seen on most Les Paul's from 1957 thru 1960. The thickness is 0.075" with the pattern running thru the celluloid to allow for installation in Historic Les Paul's with deeper inlay cavity routes. The celluloid can also be sanded down thinner to allow for installation in vintage Les Paul's giving the same vintage look. We found the original manufacture that supplied this celluloid back in the 1950's. We were able to confirm the pattern and color originally used. Just as the original celluloid nitrate it is subject to yellowing when exposed to UV light. Available for Historic or Vintage replacement.

Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Jimmy Page #1 Signed and Aged Les Paul Reissue (2004)
(Item#830)(consignment) Rare 2004 signed and Tom Murphy aged Jimmy Page #1 Les Paul, 1 of the 25 that were sent to Jimmy Page to be played and signed, this guitar has become a one of a kind as it is the ONLY one with the burst also painted by Tom Murphy, a hand written letter from Tom comes with the guitar as provenance(see pictures). Here's the story and info on the guitar from the original owner and myself: The owner of the guitar bought it new from the authorized Gibson dealer in 2004 and it has been away in his collection. In the beginning of this year he sent it to me to sell on consignment. In looking at the pictures of it, a few people brought to attention that there was a scrape or deep scratch in the finish between the neck pickup volume and tone knobs that was not accurate or correct for the aging on the Page #1 guitars. I took some close-up pictures of the spot and sent them to Tom Murphy followed by a long phone conversation. The conclusion we came to was that this scrape or scratch probably happened at some point during the trip to England and back and because it was an aged guitar nobody at Gibson noticed it and it was sent to the dealer to be sold. With Gibson's knowledge of the problem I shipped the guitar to Tom and he did a top ONLY refinish on the guitar and then did all of the correct aging and wear marks again and he had done the first time he aged this guitar. Nothing was done to the rest of the guitar and it is 100% stock. Tom was very careful in removing the original strings that Page played on and they are now back on the guitar. All of the details are in the leeter that he has provided and you can read it at the end of the posted pictures. The guitar comes with ALL of the original paperwork, special certificate and black Gibson Custom Page signature case. (If YOU are a serious buyer for THIS guitar and would like more info and or pictures of this guitar I'd be happy to get them to you or spend any amount of time needed speaking with you on the phone. But PLEASE do not bother with questions and emails about the guitar just out of curiosity. The full serial number will ONLY be discolsed to the buyer.)

(Item#867) 1 of 25 from a special run done for Vic DaPra, gloss finish with a great looking eastern maple top and burst color called "DaPra Glossy Bourbon Fade", (the color is very close to the Heritage Cherry that was used on the gold certificate Annv. guitars), nice and lightweight at 8 lbs 3 ounces, med. size "C" shape neck that's very comfortable and measures: 1st fret .928", 12th fret 1.013", killer looking DARK fingerboard. This is another guitar from a series I recently started that I'm calling the MGL "HotRod Series". These are new guitars that I'm hand picking and feel have the old vibe and look along with great tone so they are worthy of hot rodding with some aftermarket parts including AVH Dave Johnson real celluloid inlays(installed by Dave). Here are the parts I've added to this guitar: a set of Zhangbucker "Pure Handwound" pickups with exposed zebra coils("Duanebucker" in the bridge and a "Woodbucker" in the neck), Vintage Clone '59 Burst knobs, RetroSpec bridge thumbwheels and steel stoptail studs, celluloid inlays. The set of pickups installed is a perfect match for this guitar(the first set of 100% handwound pickups I've heard and I'm very impressed!!), real woody, fat and 3D sounding guitar, just enough bottom end that's got great note definition, low notes on the A and low E strings even have some nice presence, if you like fat and juicy midrange with lots of overtones, you will love this guitar!! The bridge pickup position REALLY gets that Duane honk! Top end is very smooth with good clarity, middle and neck positions are fat and clear with no mud for a classic AB's Warren Haynes tone. Guitar comes with all paperwork, certificate, original pickups and replaced parts, black Gibson Custom case.

This is one of the first guitars of a series being done exclusively for Mark's Guitar Loft and we're calling them the "Vintage Authentic Series". Here's what has been done to this one: refinish including aging and authentic finish checking, more pronounced '50's style top carve, Dave's vintage correct celulloid inlays, fret level and recrown, and new bone nut. I really liked the color on the back of this guitar so I had Dave take the clear off the back just down to the color and then overspray it with his vintage style hard nitro lacquer, As you can see in the pictures I had him purposely leave the gold in the pickup routes to emulate and old refinned goldtop, the guitar weighs 8 lbs 3 ounces, great feeling neck that has a very accurate size: 1st fret .898", 12th fret .988", Pickups are a set of WCR "Crossroads" and really work well in this guitar, I just wired the guitar with all new CTS 500K audio taper pots and .022 Mallory caps, Here's a list of the rest of the aftermarket parts that will be common on this series of guitars: Vintage Clone "Light Cream" pickup rings, '59 style knobs, poker chip and swtch tip, RetroSpec bridge studs and thumbwheels, aged steel tailpiece studs, a set of Gibson tuners that have some nice looking aftermarket tips, vintage correct rolled plastic truss rod cover, guitar comes with original black Gibson case and special letter from Dave Johnson.

Gibson Custom Shop Gloss Finish Sunburst 1957 Les Paul Reissue (2010)("Page Burst" Finish)
(Item#874)(as new) '57 plaintop in gloss "Page Burst" finish(same finish as the Jimmy Page #2), guitar also has a very dark cherry back as the Page #2's also had, I have included some pictures of two VOS Page #2's I had and you can easily see how this '57 was finished in the same color and even has the same dark spots in the burst around the switch area, Guitar weighs 8 lbs 8 ounces, very nice neck profile that measures: 1st fret .904", 12th fret .985"(this is no R7 neck!), really DARK rosewood fingerboard, pickups are Burstbuckers that measure higher than typical 1&2's at: bridge - 8.23K, neck - 7.73K. Nice sounding guitar that's real lively and rings nice acoustically. Actually you can get a pretty good early Page tone with it. Tight bottom end, not too much in the mids so the middle and neck positions have good clarity. And when played clean, those positions have some jangle to them like some of the clean Page tones. Top end has a good amount of presence and bite to it. So overall a bright and lively guitar Guitar. Comes with all paperwork, certificate, label from box showing "Page Burst" as the color and I am including a black Jimmy Page signature case. ( Please call or email for more info)

Here's what's changed: Vintage Clone Burst knobs, light cream pickup rings, poker chip, and switch tip, MojoAxe pickguard, RetroSpec switch nut, steel tailpiece studs and bridge stud thumbwheels, also a set of Gibson tuners that already had some kind of aftermarket tips on them that look good,(all of the original parts also come with the guitar). This is one of the best sounding new guitars I've heard in the last few years! Very woody and smooth in the bottom end and low mids, complex and fat mids with nice overtones and plenty of squawky honk, smooth upper mids and top end that still have some bite but not at all harsh, this guitar overall is very sweet sounding, lots of great sustain and many notes will bloom into controlled feedback, the middle and neck position tones are just killer, fat and juicy notes with tons of sustain(think Duane and Warren Haynes). Obviously I like this guitar a lot! Guitar comes with all paperwork, certificate and black Gibson Custom case.
