(Item#234) 2010 Gibson Custom Shop - Dave Johnson Full Makeover 1959 Les Paul Reissue (8 lbs even!)
(Item#234) 2010 Gibson Custom Shop ‘59 Les Paul reissue with Dave Johnson full Makeover, guitar is super lightweight at 8 lbs even and that’s with Grover tuners! Dave Johnson work: reshape neck to an accurate ‘50’s “C” with small shoulders and it measures: 1st fret - .903”, 12th fret - .966”, reshape the top carve on the maple top, soften the sharp edges of the headstock, install vintage style truss rod with no sheath, install old growth Brazilian rosewood fingerboard w/ hide glue, real celluloid fingerboard inlays, new neck binding w/ tortoise side dots, complete refinish in vintage formula Nitro lacquer w/ real finish checking, authentic aging, rolled fingerboard binding for played-in feel. Vintage looking wide curl eastern maple top with a great DJ burst in a caramel - honeyburst color that has a very warm and old look. I have just upgraded most of the parts and here’s the list: set of aged NOS wire Rewind PAF pickups from the Dave Johnson-MGL 15th Anniversary Run(I had a few extra sets made), pickups are mounted in Bartlett pickup rings, CTS pots and PIO BumbleBee caps, Dave Johnson aged vintage cut pickguard, vintage set of “Patent Pending” nickel Grover tuners, aged Historic ABR-1 bridge body with aged TruVintage saddles & screws installed, TruVintage thumbwheels & posts along with an aged tailpiece, More TruVintage plastic: rolled truss rod cover, Burst knobs, switch ring & nut, Catalin switch tip and cream jackplate, guitar has been in a collection and has very limited playing time, so as it came from Dave with no extra wear, frets are perfect with zero wear, comes with original Gibson box label, paperwork, hang tags and certificate, certificate for Rewind pickups, Dave Johnson certificate and original black Custom Shop case. NOTE: Dave is no longer doing Makeover style work as he’s moving on to building his own guitars.
