(NEW!) MGL50 Modern/Vintage Series Single Channel Amp (10th Anniversary Celebration Sale Price)

Sale Price: $2,695.00 Original Price: $2,895.00

The New MGL50 Modern/Vintage Series 50w single channel amp. This series features new versions of our “Hi-Gain” & “Vintage Dirty” voicings with a more modern tone & feel. This is a single channel amp but both voicings are available on a switch. The new “Hi-Gain” voicing is very reactive and touch sensitive with more gain, aggressiveness, and plenty of tight thump in the bottom end. Great feel under the fingers with just enough compression for a greasy and fluid feel. Will cover lots of tones from ‘80’s modded Marshall metal up thru current low and drop tunings. The “Vintage Dirty” voicing has less gain and is great for ‘70’s to early ‘80’s classic rock & metal. For more gain and compression on either voicing, you can also engage the diode clipping Saturation circuit.

The Modern/Vintage circuit uses a mix of NOS mustard & SoZo tone caps. The 2 different caps work really well together. The real mustard caps retain the authentic Marshall tone and the SoZo’s add the modern vibe. These 50w amps uses our MGL100 power transformer for a big, bold and tighter output section than most 50w amps which gets it much closer to the tone and feel of the 100w version. We’ve had Swanson Cabinets make special JMP style head cabs for this series covered in British Garnet Red tolex with blacked out appointments and we’re using matching red anodized preamp tube shields. Plexi style head cab & many other tolex colors also available at no up-charge.

Amp Layout

Front panel: Standard Marshall style tone controls, master volume & pre-amp, high & low sensitivity inputs, the mini switch between the master and pre-amp controls switches between the 2 different gain levels. when down, in the VIN position you get the Vintage Dirty voicing, in the up position you get the Hi-Gain voicing. The 2nd mini switch to the right of the pre-amp control allows you to switch between 2 different sounding tone caps in the first position of the circuit. In the down position, the cap is an NOS mustard cap and in the up position it’s a SoZo cap. The mustard caps leans more Marshall w/ fatter mids and the SoZo more modern with less mids and a little more gain.

Back Panel Left to Right: FX loop true bypass switch, 2nd switch - on/off for diode clipping saturation circuit, 3rd switch - negative feedback Voicing, in the down Vintage position you get more negative feedback fro a warmer & more compressed tone, in the up Modern position you get less negative feedback for a brighter & more aggressive tone.
